MCFERRDOG

'Lawd Forgive Me' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 20, 2015

It's been less than a year since MCFERRDOG released Club Amniotics through 1080p, and now the New York producer has teamed up with the Vancouver tape label once again, as today (January 20) marks the release of the new album Lawd Forgive Me.

There are plenty of thumping beats and bright grooves across these 12 tracks, but this isn't a straight-up party record. There's also a lot of synth-driven experimentation, ranging from the quirky static interjections of "Bless This Mess" to the techno stabs of "Timeless" to the dreamy intro of "Crying Mantis" that gives was to 8-bit-style blippiness.

According to an announcement, producer Max McFerren "seeks epiphany and moments of beauty in a thoroughly post-ironic mode of electronic music." Hear what this sounds like below.

Tapes can be ordered on Bandcamp.
