While Matmos's 2010 LP Treasure State was a collaboration with New York's So Percussion, the Baltimore-based, San Francisco-bred electronic duo haven't offered up anything on their own since 2008's Supreme Balloon. There's about to be a surge of activity in the Matmos camp, however, as the band have announced both an EP and an LP to be released by their new label home, Thrill Jockey.

As FACT reports, Matmos's first release for the label will be The Ganzfeld, a three-song affair that will hit retailers October 16 in North America. Not much is known about the recording thus far, but you can get an idea of what its artwork will look like above.

The mini-release will also precede the group's next album, The Marriage of True Minds. A release date has not yet been set for the full-length, but it is expected sometime in 2013.

Matmos will also take part in Thrill Jockey's 20th anniversary celebrations this year, which involves a string of shows across the U.S. Matmos will perform on the September 13 show in Baltimore, MD, with labelmates Future Islands, Tortoise, and more, as well as play New York City's Webster Hall on September 15 with Tortoise, Future Islands, Liturgy and D. Charles Speer.
