The Manvils

'Expats' (EP stream & teaser video)

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Mar 21, 2014

Canonical Canadian rock troupe the Manvils dropped the second instalment of their three-part EP series, Expats, last fall (November 22) by leaving a set of download cards at an exclusive Toronto show. Now, the band have kept good on their promise of pressing it on vinyl, and the record is seeing its official digital release next Tuesday (March 25). Until then, tide yourself over by streaming the EP on Exclaim.ca, as well as digging into a new teaser video.

Expats was engineered and mixed in Toronto by Lorne Hounsell (Fucked Up, Cuff the Duke) and follows the band's Black Tornado. Speaking of the release, Mikey Manville said in a statement, "These are all albums where chaos matters. These songs were written together, refined on the road, and our sound continues to evolve here in Toronto."

As for the video, it was shot in black and white during a pair of performances at Toronto's Lee's Palace and the Dakota Tavern. Watch as the band shred through some sweaty renditions of the EP's title track, which is all the more completed by a few classic rock guitar poses and lots of adoring fans.

Check out the video now in the player below and listen to the EP in its entirety underneath that.

The Manvils will be celebrating the release with some shows at Toronto's Dakota Tavern on April 23 and May 21.
