Toronto singer Lydia Ainsworth is back with a new single, the title track from her forthcoming album Sparkles & Debris.
The artist has shared a lyric video/visualizer alongside the new track, which arrives thanks to an instrumental collaboration with Stranger Things score co-composer/S U R V I V E member Kyle Dixon. In a release, Ainsworth said the song is partially inspired by the Greek myth of Arachne.
"Ovid's myth offers an allegory for our era of obfuscation, when lies spread faster than the truth to benefit those in power," Ainsworth said. "I love this myth because Arachne stands up for her art, and she doesn't back down to pressures of society or the gods in power."
As previously reported, Ainsworth's Sparkles & Debris is set to arrive in full on May 21 through Zombie Cat Records.
Vocals on the album were recorded with engineer/mixer Dajaun Martineau in Toronto, while sessions at the city's Desert Fish and Noble Street studios featured Mark Kelso on drums, and Neil Chapman and John Findlay on electric guitar and bass, respectively.
Ainsworth's new single follows the release of "Forever" and "Parade."
