The Luyas Line Up Canadian Dates on World Tour, Share New Video

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 17, 2011

Last fall, experimental Montreal pop combo the Luyas announced that they had signed on with Dead Oceans/Idée Fixe Records to release their next album, Too Beautiful to Work. If you've been waiting with bated breath for the dreamy disc to drop, you're probably well aware that it's set to be released next Tuesday (February 22). To celebrate the album's release, the band are going to embark on a fairly substantial, globe-trotting tour.

First up, the Luyas will play a hometown gig next Thursday (February 24) before linking up with Ra Ra Riot for some shows down the East Coast. They will then hit up SXSW for a Dead Oceans showcase before making their way up the West Coast, including a stop in Vancouver, with Aussie rocker Liam Finn. Shortly after the band make their way back to Montreal, they will head out for Europe, wrapping things up with a string of shows with the Dodos in May. You can check out all the dates below.

For a teaser of what to expect at a Luyas live show, check out new video The Luyas: Everything Is Outta Sight, from the group's performance at the Red Bird Gallery during Pop Montreal last fall. Derrick Belcham and Take Away Show filmmaker Vincent Moon captured the intimate performance, which found the outfit surrounded by paper streamers, set designs and fans alike, through a series of interesting angles and close-ups. Naturally, the video also teases a handful of Too Beautiful to Work tracks. You can check out the lengthy concert clip here, as well as below.
