In the wake of Three 6 Mafia member Lord Infamous's passing last Friday (December 20), the rapper's Black Rain Entertainment has now revealed that the cause of death was a heart attack. He was 40 years old.
A brief press statement from Black Rain Entertainment, of which Lord Infamous had been a co-owner, reads: "Ricky Dunigan, professionally known as 'Lord Infamous,' died Friday, December 20, 2013 from a heart attack."
The statement goes on to note the Memphis rapper's accomplishments as a member of Three 6 Mafia and states that he founded Black Rain Entertainment with II Tone in 2006. It caps with a compassionate "Dunigan's family is grateful for all the condolences and prayers, and would like to request privacy in their time of grief."
As previously reported, news of Dunigan's death was confirmed over the weekend by publicist Dove Clark, though at the time the cause of death was unknown.
Over the weekend, former Three 6 Mafia bandmate Juicy J sent out his condolences and thanked fans and friends for their wishes as well, writing:
