When the big corporations change hands, the hockey arenas-turned-event-venues change names. London's Budweiser Gardens — a name the sports-entertainment centre at 99 Dundas Street took on in 2012 after initially being opened as the John Labatt Centre after the local Labatt brewery in 2002 — will be rebranding as Canada Life Place.

The venue shared the news on social media today, writing that, as of October 11, Bud Gardens will be known as Canada Life Place in honour of the insurance and financial services company, a subsidiary of Great-West Lifeco.

Many in the replies have noted that they will personally continue to call it the JLC (put some respect on Lebatt's name!), as many Torontonian neighbours do with Molson Amphi— Budweiser Stage, I mean!

This news comes shortly after the London venue, which seats 10,200, announced a new cashless policy that's set to be instated starting this Friday (September 27).
