Facing down obstacles like being ejected from the legendary Rock n' Roll Herberge in Germany and being banned from entering, let alone playing shows, in the U.S., some bands might be ready to throw in the towel. But much as their name is indicative of their cutthroat attitude in the face of adversity, Vancouver dance punks You Say Party! We Say Die! push forward anew.

Their third album, XXXX, might be dropping September 29 on Paper Bag Records, but you now can quell your anticipation, because we are exclusively streaming the album all week here at Exclaim.ca.

Following the aforementioned setbacks, the group had become desperate for new inspiration - something they found on their spring 2008 tour of China and Japan, which brought them closer together with a newfound motivation to "do whatever it takes."

YSP!WSD! spent the rest of the year volunteering, pursuing artistic endeavours and meaningful employment, and writing songs, before enlisting the help of producer Howard Redekop (Tegan and Sara, the New Pornographers) and storming the studio in January 2009. They spent the next eight months recording what would become XXXX, an album that the band claims in a press release has embraced the sonic splendour of new wave and injected it into the signature sound that critics embraced on the band's first two albums 2005's Hit the Floor! and 2007's Lose All Time.

The band will be hitting the road on a cross-Canada fall tour in support of their latest disc in October. But until then, you can listen to You Say Party! We Say Die!'s XXXX, streaming on Exclaim.ca until October 5.
