Liars

"I Saw You From the Lifeboat" / "Perfume Tear"

It's been just under a year since Liars dropped their last LP WIXIW, and oh, what a time it's been. The band have chronicled their recent escapades in a video for a newly released tune called "I Saw You From the Lifeboat," and you can watch the travelogue down below.

The slideshow displays onstage activity, roadside bonding, multiple bathroom selfies of the band in their undies, and at least one outdoor meal ruined by an adorable street kitten. As for the song, it's got a menacing 8-bit melody and slow-mo drum machine beats framing the always unsettling falsetto of Australian-bred madman Angus Andrew.

Additionally, you can nab the new tune, as well as "Perfume Tear," now over here for the price of an email. A statement from the vocalist notes that the songs came together rather quickly.

Andrew writes:

After releasing WIXIW and returning home from touring there was a palpable sense of creative relief and release. We relished in the opportunity to make stuff under no real directive and began almost immediately to produce all kinds of unrelated works. It's a great position to be in creatively so we decided to share a small portion of the results with you today. Both of these songs happened almost instantly, and, in sharp contrast to the music we produced for WIXIW, were not labored over or scrutinized. It's been great for us to recall the immediacy and excitement of creating music on the fly — unrestricted by subject matter and void of preoccupations about how it should 'work' in the greater context of things.
