Les Jupes Announce 'Negative Space' EP, Share New Track

While Les Jupes frontman Michael P Falk recently released his Oshima side-project's The Age of Shapes, he'll be back to his regular duties this fall when Les Jupes issue their Negative Space EP.

A press release confirms that the Winnipeg indie rock band's four-song EP arrives September 10 via Head in the Sand Records. The session was produced by Rusty Matyas (Imaginary Cities) and engineered by Cam Loeppky (the Weakerthans), and apparently strips things down from the work heard on the group's 2011 LP Modern Myths.

"We're such a different band now than the one that made Modern Myths," Falk said in a statement. "It was exciting to streamline the arrangements and make something that captures our live energy.  We wanted to make something simple and straightforward that was also raw and powerful."

You can stream the set's spacious, National-styled glum-rock anthem "Hold Me Down" in the player down below.

In other news, Les Jupes are also currently recording their proper follow-up to Modern Myths with Marcus Paquin (the National, Stars, Local Natives). The as-yet-untitled LP is expected to arrive sometime in 2014. The band are also heading out on tour this fall, and you can see the schedule beneath Negative Space's tracklisting.
