A few weeks ago, Brooklyn art-punk incendiaries Les Savy Fav released "Legendary Tippers" — their first new music in 14 years. In no uncertain terms, they are now back back with the news of their first album since 2010, previewed by new single "Guzzle Blood."
Made in frontman Tim Harrington's attic (which he described in press notes as a "freaky barn"), the organically-grown OUI, LSF is due May 10 via Frenchkiss Records / The Orchard. As aforementioned, it's their first record since 2010's Root to Ruin.
“When we finished our last record, there was a sense that if we were going to do more, we wanted to do something more ambitious,” Harrington explained. “I think it took us a while to even get in a space where that was possible.”
The band's Syd Butler added, "The last record was a lot about holding on. OUI, LSF is the sound of release — no map, no preconceptions, no self-righteous certainty. There's nothing like hitting 50 to slap the cocksure vanity off your face.”
"It opens with just a total disillusion — a loss of faith, frustration, anguish,” Harrington said of new single and album opener, "Guzzle Blood," which immediately launches listens into a flurry of warped synths, sirens, heavy riffage and Harrington's urgent delivery. Listen to that below, where you'll also find the album tracklist.
