Lee Ranaldo has long been associated with Sonic Youth, but the guitarist's latest single with the Dust is a big departure from what we're used to hearing from the indie rock fixture.
"Late Descent #2" comes from last year's Last Night on Earth, which is out through Matador. The song is based acoustic strums and Renaissance faire harpsichord tinkles. The accompanying video is a rather disorienting one, as we see Ranaldo emerge from the shadows and drift in and out of focus as the camera moves unsteadily. During the song's sleepily folk rocking middle section, Ranaldo gets doused in glitter and smashes a guitar.
The clip was directed by Vice Cooler.
