With a new album and a Herbie Hancock collaboration already in the works, Congolese street performers Konono N°1 are claiming 2010 as their year. Now, they'll make their presence known even more with a massive world tour.
Kicking off on April 28 in Belgium, the band will spend the remainder of their spring bringing their otherworldly world music across Europe. June will be a month off, or has yet to have its dates announced, but in July the band will come to North America for some rare live shows. Along with a plethora of American dates, Konono N°1 will invade Canada, with appearances at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and the Quebec City International Summer Festival.
Konono N°1's Assume Crash Position will be released by Crammed Discs on June 8.
