Formerly bankrupt '90s rap punchline MC Hammer has slowly made his return to the public sphere over the last few years with his reality TV show and a slow trickle of new music. The latest track he leaked is a heavy-handed Jay-Z diss that accuses the rap mogul of worshipping Satan. The track is called "Better Run Run" and is a response to a mostly harmless bankruptcy joke Jay made in recently released Kanye track "So Appalled."
The song has been released as a video and under MC Hammer's new moniker, King Hammer. It shows a Jay-Z impersonator become enticed by the devil, eventually ending up under his evil spell. In the end, Hammer saves him with a baptism. Accompanied by a terrible attempt at contemporary pop rap, we doubt this bodes well for Hammer's career.
Of course, the concept that Jay-Z is a member of an elite occult group is nothing new. Still, for anyone to take these claims remotely seriously, they will need to be communicated in a less sensationalized manner.
