The Strokes didn't end up issuing a follow-up to last year's Angles as quickly as bassist Nikolai Fraiture had hoped, but now there's a chance we can hear vocalist Julian Casablancas again in a new movie called She's Lost Control. That is, if the film manages to reach its Kickstarter goal.
As Consequence of Sound points out, the independent project is being spearheaded by German filmmaker Anja Marquardt and centres on a professional surrogate partner named Ronah who "teaches men how to be intimate and make love." As the film goes on, the professional and personal relationships between Ronah and her patient Johnny blur.
"Intimacy is one of the hardest things to learn in life and it is becoming increasingly challenging in our modern, technologically-driven society," Marquardt said in a statement. "Ultimately, She's Lost Control is a story about compassion and reaching out to other human beings."
You can catch a video promoting the project down below, which features interviews with Marquardt and her crop of collaborators. Simon Taufique will be the film's composer, but the video features a cameo from a reasonably sullen Casablancas confirming he's on board too. "I'm Julian, I'm one of Simon's friends, and whatever he needs, I'll do," he says.
If you're interested in funding the flick, you can read more about the project here.
In the meantime, the Strokes apparently began recording last July, but so far there is no word on when we can officially expect that Angles follow-up.
