As a member of both Modest Mouse and the Cribs, youd think that former Smiths member Johnny Marr would have a pretty full plate. But apparently thats not the case, as the guitarist is popping up all over the place.
For starters, Marr recently played guitar on "Rolling Back the Rivers in Time," a new song by British pop tarts Girls Aloud, which is featured on their UK chart-topping album Out of Control. Come January 20, you can hear him on The Empyrean, the next solo album from Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. The album, which will be released through Record Collection, will also include Flea, the Sonus Quartet and the New Dimension Singers.
Then theres the upcoming live album from Crowded House front-man Neil Finn, set to be recorded this winter. The album is a follow-up to Finns 2001 album 7 Worlds Collide that Marr played on. The record will also feature members of Wilco and Radiohead.
Finally, Marr will also be helping photographer Pat Graham with his upcoming photo book Instrumental. The book will document instruments belonging to Wilsons favourite musicians. An excerpt can be found here.
