It turns out that U2 didn't even need to show up for U2 to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The Irish rock champs were forced to cancel their week-long residency on the show after frontman Bono injured himself in a cycling accident, so host Jimmy Fallon put on his best tinted shades and covered U2 with the Roots.
Together, Fallon and the Roots perform a pitch perfect version of U2's Rattle and Hum stand-out "Desire." Fallon nails everything, from the spotlighted Bono pose to a slight Irish accent as he sings.
Watch the Roots perform with Jimmy Fallon below. Maybe they'll just perform a U2 song every night this week.
