Songwriting busybody Jim Guthrie provided the soundtrack for the film When We Were Boys last year, and now, as promised, his videogame soundtrack is nearing release. As previously reported, Guthrie soundtracked an upcoming iPhone game called Sword and Sworcery, and the game's full trailer is now available for viewing.
Last fall, Guthrie explained the background of the project to Exclaim!, saying, "It's a new take on the classic action/adventure/Zelda-type genres of gaming. I'm basically doing the music and a little SFX work on the game."
A trailer is available below, and it looks like a heady adventure, combining a forward-thinking concept with vivid retro-futuristic gameplay. Hints of Guthrie's soundtrack can be heard in the trailer.
Guthrie also told us that a limited 180-gram vinyl pressing of the soundtrack should be available by the end of March.
