Earlier this year, Brooklyn art punks Japanther spoke with Exclaim! about Beets, Limes and Rice, their upcoming new album. Now, the hard-working group have dropped the record's tracklisting and album art (above), along with an updated tour schedule.
Drummer Ian Vanek told Exclaim! that the album does focus in on former Death Set member Beau Velasco's passing. "This is our first record we put out since he died, so we wrote some very emotional, strange, spiritual music," he said. "It can be particularly difficult when you're sad to write about what you want to write about without making your music sound sad and fucking boring. It's definitely still a very fun record about being a young person in the world that's not afraid to die and not afraid to live."
The tracklisting for Beets, Limes and Rice is available below. The album will be released on October 18 in a variety of formats. Recess Records will handle the vinyl and digital release, while Japanther's own Tapes Records will issue the CD and Lauren Records will drop the cassette.
In addition to the release info, Japanther have rescheduled their cancelled Alberta shows, adding a Canadian stop in Winnipeg in the process. All tour dates are available below.
