In addition to being a celebrated garage rocker, Jack White has a knack for staying friends with his exes. After all, he continued playing in the White Stripes for years after he and drummer Meg White got divorced. Now, the Third Man Records boss is breaking up with his second wife, supermodel/singer Karen Elson, and the separation appears to be equally amicable.
The couple issued a public statement, announcing the end of their relationship, but reaffirming that they are still on good terms.
They wrote, "We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party. An evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family."
You can see the invitation to their divorce party here, although please note that it's for close personal friends and family, so you're not invited (sorry). They call the event a "positive swing bang hum dinger" and promise, "the party will include dancing, photos, memories, and drinks with alcohol in them."
White and Elson met in 2005 after the model appeared in the video for the White Stripes single "Blue Orchid." They married just weeks later and have since had two children: Scarlett Teresa and Henry Lee. White released Elson's solo record, The Ghost Who Walks, through Third Man in 2010.
