Islands

"The Weekend" (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 19, 2016

While Nick Thorburn's Islands project has been working overtime to release not one but two albums this spring, he knows that you've got to take a bit of time for yourself. A South American vaycay of his is chronicled in the new video for Taste's "The Weekend."

Directed by Death From Above 1979's Sebastien Grainger, the video acts as a travelogue of Thorburn's time in Santa Marta and Bogota, Colombia. Scored by the Taste-ful electro-pop sound of "The Weekend," the clip finds the Islands leader observing local displays of playful late night pugilism, wandering through night markets, and hanging out at some scenic tourist spots.

Inspired by the beauty of it all, he then delivers some enthusiastic, Michael Jackson circa Dangerous spin moves in the middle of an empty street.
