Swedish dance duo Icona Pop have less than a month to go before the arrival of their debut album, This Is... Icona Pop, on September 24 through Record Company Ten/Big Beat Records. Unfortunately, they've had their momentum temporarily undermined by illness, which has resulted in some cancelled shows.
The band have postponed their upcoming gigs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle (for Bumbershoot festival) and Vancouver. The specifics are unclear, but evidently singer Aino Jawo fell ill.
Her bandmate Caroline Hjelt said in a statement, "We cannot tell you how sad we are and how much these shows meant to us. Our fans are so important to us and we live to perform on stage for you each night. We promise we'll be back and will see you soon! In the meantime, please send lots of love and good energy Aino's way!"
The shows were apparently postponed on doctor's orders. Icona Pop plan to reschedule the gigs, so fans are advised to hang on to their tickers.
This follows last week's cancellation of the pair's upcoming Portland show on September 4 for MusicFestNW. This means that Icona Pop's tour is slated to resume on September 6 in Salt Lake City. See the updated schedule below.
