Toronto electronic scene staple I Am Robot and Proud has an album called Light and Waves on the way, and as we wait for the whole thing to arrive later this week, Exclaim! has the premiere of the track "Weird Gravity."
In addition to masterminding I Am Robot and Proud, Shaw-Han Liem also designs videogames. That side-job perhaps explains the pretty, blippy electronic tones heard in "Weird Gravity," which sound a bit like a classic Nintendo score. These delicate synths are paired with a buoyant drum machine groove, making this simultaneously bittersweetly nostalgic and energetically upbeat.
Hear the track below.
Darla Records will release Light and Waves on CD and digital download on September 18. The vinyl will follow on November 20.
Tour dates:
10/20 Tokyo, Japan - O-Nest *
10/21 Mastumoto, Japan - Alecx
10/23 Kobe, Japan - Guggenheim House
10/24 Nagoya, Japan - Tokuzo
10/25 Kyoto, Japan - Borofesta Festival
10/26 Osaka, Japan - Conpass
