Holy Fuck's Brian Borcherdt Emerges with Dusted LP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 24, 2012

While Brian Borcherdt has been faithfully playing with Toronto electronic act Holy Fuck since 2004, the musician is stepping away from the acclaimed group for the time being to promote his new project, Dusted. The duo, which also features producer Leon Taheny (Final Fantasy, Rituals, Bruce Peninsula), will deliver their debut disc Total Dust July 10 through Hand Drawn Dracula/Polyvinyl.

A press release explains that the pair crafted and recorded the LP in a converted garage, and it apparently strays from Holy Fuck's sound, being described as "melodic, sometimes haunting, and always clouded by a fuzzy glow."

The debut effort apparently challenges the limitations of a two-piece lineup (Borcherdt on guitar/vocals and Taheny on drums/samples) with string arrangements, fuzzed-out guitar feedback and minimalist drum machine beats.

You can sample album track "(Into the) Atmosphere" now in the SoundCloud player below.

On top of the standard CD and black vinyl pressings of Total Dust, Polyvinyl will deliver a limited run of 500 LPs on maroon wax. While the LP will host ten new tracks, both the CD and digital versions feature the bonus cut "Centuries of Sleep."

You can pre-order all versions here.
