Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Tia Bank$, Anna Sofia, Titus Bank

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Jul 9, 2021

Well, it's that time again! Hopefully you're dosed-up x2 and ready for another shot of new CanCon in your headphones.

You can bank on big, fresh singles from Tia Bank$ and Titus Bank — no relation, though Bank$ might be cousins once-removed with the artist formerly known as Ke$ha, Kesha. Other huge tunes come by way of 17-year-old Anna Sofia, Haviah Mighty, Arkells and Cartel Madras, as well as Indigenous excellence from Crown Lands and Aasiva.

It was another light week for album releases, but we have some gems from a selection of new records: Meggie Lennon, Charlotte Day Wilson, Lex Leosis, Ralph and Olivier Fairfield & Simon Provencher's collaborative project Album. (Yes, the album is also called Album.)

We get re-imaginative with Charlotte Cardin reprising the title track from her album Phoenix alongside Lubalin, while Mint Simon's "Some of Everything" gets the remix treatment from Bright Light Bright Light. As far as other interesting collaborations, another teen-on-the-rise named Sophie Powers teams up with Kellin Quinn from Sleeping with Sirens. Wow, we haven't heard that name in ages... not since Warped Tour ended, anyway.

Get your weekend started on the right note with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
