We already knew that Hannah Georgas was working on a new album, as she previously revealed that she was heading into a Toronto barn-turned-studio with Holy Fuck member Graham Walsh serving as producer. Now, the Vancouver songwriter has confirmed some of the album details.
While presenting at the Polaris Music Prize long list announcement at the Waldorf Hotel in Vancouver today (June 14), Georgas told CBC Radio 3 that her sophomore album would be self-titled and is due out in the second week of October. Since new releases typically drop on Tuesday, that would mean that Hannah Georgas will most likely arrive October 9.
UPDATE: According to a new report from CBC, the self-titled album will arrive October 2.
She added that we can expect the first single in August, although the details are still coming together and this isn't set in stone.
When the album was first discussed last September, Georgas said that it would likely include elements of electronic music while not straying too far from her signature roots-pop sound. Around the same time, she showcased a new song called "The Waiting Game" in an acoustic session with Exclaim! TV. Watch that performance below.
