There has been a lot of reason to pay attention to Wu-Tang veteran GZA as of late. The rapper has been hyping up some major collaborations recently, hitting the studio with the likes of Devendra Banhart, King Khan, Fucked Up and members of the Black Lips. Now, he's gained our full attention with the announcement that he'll release a sequel to Liquid Swords this fall.
For the uninitiated, Liquid Swords is GZA's second album, which was released in 1995, and is universally considered a hip-hop masterpiece. In a tweet from the Wu-Tang Clan, it was announced that Liquid Sword: The Second Edition would be dropping this fall. Over at the Wu-Tang's official Facebook page, it was added that RZA produced the effort.
While it's unclear if the Liquid Swords sequel will feature any of the aforementioned indie rock collaborations, we're counting this as one of our most anticipated rap releases of 2010 (that is, if it actually comes out this year). After all, Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx sequel was untouchable in 2009.
Thanks to OneThirtyBPM for the tip.
