Guelph alt-rockers Excuse Me. have announced their next EP, previewed today by new single "The Coast."

II: Left Behind arrives on August 31 as the first instalment of the quintet's forthcoming concept album, which follows their 2020 self-titled debut. The EP includes previously released single "Cops," as well as two brand-new tracks.

Just three days before the band's first show in 2018, frontman Aleks Liskauskas's house burned down — and Excuse Me.'s gear was lost in the process.

"After that, we dealt with eviction by shady landlords, being separated by lockdowns, losing three almost finished mixes to a faulty hard-drive, and just general passionate in-fighting about how to make each song sound exactly right," Liskauskas explained in a statement. "It's been an incredibly taxing process, but it's finally finished and is unequivocally the best thing we've ever written. We're excited for people to hear every piece of this story."

Of the neon-lit new cut, he added, "'The Coast' started with a guitar riff that just wouldn't leave our heads. It sounded like the 'free of trouble' place we go to in our minds when life gets rough."
