As we previously reported, Nick Cave's Grinderman are set to release Grinderman 2 on September 14 through Anti- Records. But fans of the quirky rock band will be able to get an advance taste of the new material on August 31, when a new single will be released.
The track, "Heathen Child," features "a deep seductively heavy groove interjected with dazzling squalls of saw-tooth distortion," according to a press release. "It abounds in lyrical imagery at turns lascivious, paranoid, philosophic, absurd and flat-out abusive."
We don't know what that means either, but we do know that the digital-only single has some wild-looking artwork, which you can see above. Also, get set for an upcoming video directed by longtime Grinderman collaborator John Hillcoat.
Grinderman's first album, Grinderman, was released in 2007. Check out a trailer for Grinderman 2 below.
