The ongoing shitshow that was this year's Fyre Festival may not have delivered on its promised entertainment, but the Bahamian luxury fest is still making headlines. Following news that the fest was being investigated by the FBI, its organizer Billy McFarland has now been arrested.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, McFarland was arrested on Friday (June 30) in Manhattan. He was charged in connection with a scheme to defraud investors, which included misrepresenting financial information about his company Fyre Media.

McFarland's fest billed itself as the next Coachella, and despite Ja Rule's ruling that the fest was "NOT A SCAM," the failed event went viral when it left hundreds of people stranded in the Bahamas without sufficient shelter, food or electricity.

In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney for Manhattan Joon H. Kim said, "McFarland promised a 'life changing' music festival but in actuality delivered a disaster. McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company and the fiasco called the Fyre Festival. Thanks to the investigative efforts of the FBI, McFarland will now have to answer for his crimes."

McFarland could reportedly face up to 20 years in prison.
