Theatrical Baltimore indie outfit Future Islands have had the biggest year of their career so far via the hype drummed up by their Singles smash, "Seasons (Waiting on You)." The breakthrough number is but one of many stunners highlighted in the latest 4AD Session.
On display in the intimately shot live performance are other romantic, synth-streaming cuts like "Sun in the Morning," "Light House" and "Seasons (Waiting on You)." Each is shot under a moody miasma, with the band's arrangements being beefed-up ever so slightly by strings and brass. The star of the show, of course, is the always expressive Samuel T. Herring, contorting his face wildly as he bounces between beastly bellowing at a reedy, poetic croon.
