Fucked Up's April Fool's Shenanigans, Black Mountain's New LP and Thom Yorke's Hate for the Alberta Tar Sands in This Week's News Round-Up

Despite the long Easter weekend, we're back with our link-friendly News Round-Up. Here's just a few of the stories that grabbed our headlines this week.

First up, hats off to Fucked Up for executing one insanely elaborate April Fool's prank. Not only did the guys make up an entire company (Thriller Energy Drinks), draft a massive court document and lay the seeds to this joke over a week ago via a much-blogged-about SXSW post, but people are still falling for the gag post-April Fool's. And the band even weaseled their gag onto MuchMusic. Seriously, check that out here and see Fucked Up's big explanation here.

Besides Fucked Up's shenanigans, there was plenty of "real" news going on, especially when it came to new album releases. Superchunk revealed they're nearly done a new album, their first in almost a decade. Black Mountain gave us the scoop on their new full-length. And Hercules and Love Affair announced they're done recording their sophomore album.

Then we had Thom Yorke taking on Alberta's tar sands, Walter Schreifels talking all about the new Rival Schools LP, and Refused sparking reunion rumours once again (sorry, guys, just Epitaph doing a reissue of The Shape of Punk to Come).

And last but not least, Drake's Thank Me Later apparently has another release date. Think this one is actually going to stick?
