Feist is gearing up for her next move, which she's now announced will be a new live residency project called MULTITUDES.
The Canadian artist made the reveal today on her Instagram, though so far not all the details have been outlined. By the looks of things, though, the project will debut in Europe this summer.
We do know, however, that MULTITUDES was developed by Feist and designer Rob Sinclair (Peter Gabriel, Tame Impala, David Byrne), and it will feature the songwriter doing intimate performances of new material.
Her Instagram caption simply states: "An intimate performance of new songs. Europe Summer 2021."
She will be backed by musicians Todd Dahlhoff and Amir Yaghmai, as well as do in-the-round performances with limited capacity — all of which will be experienced in custom 18-point D&B Soundscape immersive audio, according to a press release.
In addition to debuting some new Feist music, MULTITUDES is aiming to help people ease their way out of lockdown, "while providing an outlet for connection between artist, art, and community."
So far no exact dates or cities have been revealed. For now, you can watch the video announcement for the project below and start crossing those fingers extra hard that Feist brings the project to Canada.
UPDATE (6/16, 5:15 p.m. ET): A press release now confirms that the show's world premiere is a week-long residency at this year's Kampnagel Festival in Hamburg. MULTITUDES will then come to Canada in the fall, starting with a run in Ottawa at the National Arts Centre, followed by its Toronto premiere at TO Live's Meridian Hall. Keep your eyes peeled here on Exclaim! and via Feist's website for further specifics as they become available.
Just recently, Feist joined the Tragically Hip for a performance at the Junos. Her last studio album, meanwhile, was 2017's Pleasure.
