Exclaim! is happy to bring you this bit of breaking news: Come October, Toronto/UK-based electro indie rockers Dragonette will be taking their live show out on an extensive Canada-wide tour.
The dates are in support of the group's upcoming full-length, Fixin' to Thrill, which will be released on September 29 via Universal Canada. The album is the band's first since 2007's Galore, as well as the first with new guitarist Chris Hugget. Earlier this spring, fans of the group got a taste of the upcoming record with the dance-friendly/remix-loaded EP for its title track, and now via new digital single "Gone too Far," which just came out via iTunes on July 28.
Bassist Dan Kurtz told Exclaim! that people can expect "Intrigue, mystery, love, hate, redemption and good times," with the new album, as well as a bit of "loud and quiet, fast and slow."
Kurtz opened up a bit more when talking about the upcoming tour, saying: "We will also have a load of flashing lights and a whole new album of tunes to play. We're actually looking forward to this tour, having gotten over the idea of driving in a giant circle around North America."
Kurtz continues, "Taking a brand new album on the road is always exciting, since we have a bunch of new songs to play, but it's also a bit scary for the same reason. Very few people have heard these new songs, and we've barely played them live, so we'll have to be on our toes and hoping, optimistically, that we and the crowd all rock out."
After finishing up the western leg of the Canadian tour, Dragonette plan to hit the U.S. with a series of yet-to-be-announced dates. However, if you're north of the border, here's where you can get set to do some rocking out:
10/2 Peterborough, ON - Red Dog
10/3 Montreal, QC - Le Cabaret (Pop Montreal)
10/5 Hamilton, ON - Casbah
10/6 London, ON - Call The Office
10/7 Waterloo, ON - The Starlight
