Eternal Tapestry Goes Beyond the 4th Door on Thrill Jockey Debut

Since 2005, Portland's Eternal Tapestry have been exploring forward-thinking guitar-based psych on various hard-to-find EPs and albums. The band features members of Jackie-O Motherfucker, Tunnels, Heavy Winged and many other experimental heroes. For their next release, they have signed with the venerable Thrill Jockey imprint and have planned a new album called Beyond the 4th Door.

According to a press release, Beyond the 4th Door "contains long stretches of melodic guitar improvisations, dark brooding songs that slowly build and expand to allow in layers of light... There is a free and open nature to their structure creating for the listener a spacious environment to explore. Harkening back to the early '70s experimental rock that inspired them, such as Popol Vuh, Cluster and Trad Gras och Stenar, Beyond the 4th Door is an album meant to be listened to in its entirety. There is no single, no easy sound bite. It is not a record made for the pop world -- it is a record made despite it."

Beyond the 4th Door will be released on March 15. The full tracklisting is available below, and that's the album art above.

Beyond the 4th Door:

1. "Ancient Echoes"
2. "Cosmic Manhunt"
3. "Galactic Derelict"
4. "Reflections in a Mirage"
5. "Time Winds Through a Glass, Clearly"
