It's already been a big day for the Beast Coast crew, what with the official release of the Underachievers' Cellar Door: Terminus Ut Exordium LP and the unveiling of Joey Bada$$'s "Big Dusty" video. Now, Flatbush Zombies rapper/producer Erick Arc Elliott (a.k.a. Erick the Architect) has added to the bounty with a new instrumental track called "Love Shawty."
Pulled from his upcoming Arcstrumentals Vol. 1 mixtape, the track presents a much different kind of soundscape than the hazy and hypnagogic, pot smoke-billowing beatwork he serves up with his Zombie buds. Instead, he works a LED-illuminated '90s house groove that combines crackling vinyl sounds, sleepy-eyed synth patches, conga drum taps and a steady four-on-the-floor.
While apparently part of an instrumental package, there are some chopped-up vocal samples tossed in for good measure.
Today (August 12) is apparently also the Architect's birthday, so celebrate with the guy by streaming his latest track down below.
