Dum Dum Girls Line Up 'End of Daze' EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 28, 2012

It hasn't even been a year since U.S. janglers Dum Dum Girls delivered their sophomore album Only in Dreams, but if you had a hankering for some new tunes, you'll be glad to know the outfit have a new EP on the way. The act's End of Daze arrives September 25 through Sub Pop.

A press release defines the mini-effort as a "daring sonic example of an artist evolving in their understanding of the world." Bandleader Dee Dee Gartrell apparently wrote two of the songs ("Mine Tonight" and "I Got Nothing") shortly after the Only in Dreams sessions, and were recorded, along with a cover of Strawberry Switchblade's "Trees and Flowers," in February 2011 in New York City with the Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner. While initially tucked away as future B-sides, the group opted to "set them aside for a future, more atmospheric release." End of Daze has become that release.

The five-song set also includes "Lord Knows," described as a "regretful ballad," and closes out with the script-flipping "Season in Hell," a reportedly raucous number about looking forward to the future.

Samples of the EP proper have yet been offered up, but you can check out a stripped-down acoustic performance of "Mine Tonight" down below. Also, you can find Dum Dum Girls tour dates below.
