Toronto-based violinist Eugene Draw has been juxtaposing his classical playing style with electronic and experimental elements as frontman of music collective Dr. Draw for almost a decade now. We met up with Draw at his art space, the Theatre of Human Health, to record one of his tracks.
Draw and drummer Jeff-Antoine Cote, also known as Bassmynt, performed "Kiara," inspired by Draw's 2012 trip to Sri Lanka. The composition blended Draw's violin, equal parts classical and experimental, with strong drums and an electronic backing track to create a unique and inventive performance.
Watch the performance below. Dr. Draw and his live band will be performing four times this summer, once in BC and three times in Toronto for the Beaches Jazz Festival.
