Disclosure are steering themselves in a new direction with their forthcoming Caracal LP, perhaps most notably by stepping up to the mic. While artists like Sam Smith, Aluna Francis, Lorde, Gregory Porter, the Weeknd, Miguel and more have handled hooks for Disclosure, the group's own Howard Lawrence is working his pipes above a garage-style beat on "Echoes."
The Lawrence bros. premiered the album track today (September 21) as part of a mix for BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw. They explained that the tune is "the most garage-y one off the new record" before quickly segueing into the hopscotching electronic track.
As you'll hear below, Lawrence's cool croon offers up a stilted view of a one-on-one relationship, noting at one point: "You were dishonest ever since we met."
You'll find the track around the one-minute mark of the BBC mix down below. Caracal, meanwhile, arrives September 25 via PMR/Island.
