After issuing releases for Vancouver bands like Eeek! and Village, the Kingfisher Bluez imprint has unveiled plans for a sprawling seven-inch single subscription series.
Simply titled the Vancouver DIY Single Sided Singles Club, the series will include 12 releases from the city's best and brightest pop and punk acts.
The bands contributing exclusive songs to the project are Apollo Ghosts, Capitol 6, Dirty Beaches, Dead Ghosts, White Poppy, B-Lines, Love Cuts, Korean Gut, Student Teacher, Rose Melberg, Weed and Needles//Pins.
The label explained its impetus for the series with the following statement:
Kingfisher Bluez's first ever singles club showcases the best of our hometown's incredible DIY indie music scene. All these bands are great, but together they reveal an inclusive and diverse community that you couldn't get in a city with reasonable liquor laws, legal all-ages venues and a supportive local media! We are super excited about this series, and couldn't be more proud to have these twelve artists on board!
The series will run you $80, but pre-orders will also receive a bonus seven-inch, bumping up the total to 13 records. The first single will ship in September.
