Dine Alone Signs Australia's Violent Soho for Canadian Release of 'Hungry Ghost'

Dine Alone Records has previously handled Canadian releases for artists like Billy Bragg, the Dodos and the Jezabels, and now the label has beefed up its roster with new band from Down Under: Violent Soho. The grungy garage rockers have already released Hungry Ghost in their homeland, but it's set to arrive in Canada on September 30 thanks to Dine Alone.

The Brisbane four-piece worked with local producer Bryce Moorhead on the album, and a press releases points to its fizzy riffs and moments of psych delicacy. Lyrically speaking, it examines consumer culture.

Frontman Luke Boerdam said in a statement, "It's stuff like status anxiety, and worrying about living up to other people's standards, and in the process becoming so distracted, sitting on the couch watching other people live their lives. That mentality is behind it."

The album, which is the band's third, debuted at No. 6 in Australia. See the tracklist below, and scroll past that to watch a video for the Modest Mouse-gone-grunge single "Covered in Chrome."
