Mississauga, ON-based unit Denim Skeletons have been playing together for a few years now, and they're set to unveil their self-produced debut full-length Into the Fright next week. Before its official release, though, Exclaim! is streaming the record in its entirety.
AJ Wright has been releasing music under the moniker for nearly five years now, though the project has grown into a bigger family affair since its humble one-man beginnings; the lineup is now rounded out by his brother and two cousins. The bulk of the album was made in the basement of Wright's childhood home, though they also recorded in less conventional locales like the Streetsville GO Station, a nearby church and a bedroom closet.
The result is an adventurous foray into experimental music that brings together psychedelic sounds and samples, without ever losing its fundamentally pop-leaning sensibilities. Eclectic and engaging, the eight-song album is available for an early listen in the player below.
Into the Fright will be released on November 27, marked by a hometown show at Clarke Memorial Hall alongside local bands Outer Rooms, Drunk Chicks, Pretty Odd and Downturns.
