Deerhoof

"Untitled"

The Bay Area’s avant-pop darlings have turned frowns upside down with this fond farewell to bassist Chris Cohen, who left to concentrate on the Curtains. If you’re a fan, you’ll dig right into the delicious goodness of their covers: the loopy translation of the Beatles’ "Bungalow Bill,” the rather subdued version of Canned Heat’s "Goin’ Up the County” and a straight-up take on My Bloody Valentine’s "Lose My Breath,” which is arguably the best attempt yet at achieving that accessible sound they constantly avoid.
