Decapitated to Headline North America's 2010 Summer Slaughter Tour

If you're at all like us and are so confused that you barely understand if the Slayer/Megadeth Canadian Carnage tour dates are even happening anymore (they are), then maybe you'd like some slaughter instead of carnage. If so, tour dates have been announced for another killer metal tour package, the Summer Slaughter 2010 tour, and they include some Canadian gigs.

The bands on the 31-date tour are a mix of pure death metal fogeys and younger hardcore/metal babyfaces, and the headliner are sure to get lots of people in both camps excited: they're Poland extreme death metal lifers Decapitated, who are returning to North America after a tumultuous few years that saw the band forced into an extended hiatus.

Decapitated's drummer, Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka, died after the band got into a bus accident while on tour in 2007. Their vocalist, Adrian "Covan" Kowanek, went into a coma after the accident, but has since recovered; he left the band in 2008 while they were on hiatus. Guitarist Waclaw "Vogg" Kieltyka reformed Decapitated last year with Kerim "Krimh" Lechner on drums, Rafał Piotrowski on vocals and Filip "Heinrich" Halucha on bass.

Also on the bill are epic technical death metal band Vital Remains, pure deathheads Decrepit Birth, hazed-out tech grinders Cephalic Carnage, metalcore leaders the Red Chord, deathcore dudes All Shall Perish and younger metalcore bands like Veil of Maya, Carnifex and the Faceless. The token instru-metal band (hey, gotta have one, it is 2010, after all) are Animals As Leaders.

The Summer Slaughter tour has been going on annually since 2007. It hits up North America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Head here for a complete list of dates for the 2010 tour; the Canadian dates are below.
