Datura Daydream

"Payday" (Video)

Toronto three-piece Datura Daydream are gearing up to drop their debut album The Lick Is in the Lisp next month, but before it lands, Exclaim! has got the premiere of the group's brand new video for "Payday."

The track appears on the upcoming album and serves as an excellent introduction to the band's hard-to-pin-down psychedelic art-rock vibes. It's now been paired with some black and white visuals, and while the song itself is primarily instrumental, subtitles give some additional insight into the video's storyline.

We see a woman on a condo balcony wistfully staring out at her glass and concrete surroundings, contemplating urban and suburban life as her long luscious locks get chopped. A few bursts of colour and distortion add some extra punch to the clip, which follows a spiralling psychedelic pattern akin the song itself.

Get sucked in by the video for "Payday" in the player below. The Lick Is in the Lisp is officially out on December 12; the band will play an album release show that same evening at Holy Oak in Toronto.
