Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile Detail 'Lotta Sea Lice' LP, Share "Over Everything" Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 30, 2017

Since announcing plans for a joint tour, Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile have been teasing a collaborative LP. Now, it's been confirmed that Lotta Sea Lice is due out on October 13 via Matador Records.

A press release describes the upcoming effort as "a conversation between friends, documented in raw, unvarnished song, brimming with personal history, crackling with energy and shot through with humour."

Barnett and Vile are longtime friends and fans of each other's work, but they also roped in a few other guests to contribute to their record. Mick Turner and Jim White from the Dirty Three, Stella Mozgawa from Warpaint, and Australian singer-songwriter Mick Harvey all make appearances on Lotta Sea Lice.

In addition to original collaborative cuts, Barnett and Vile also take on each other's songs on the new LP. Barnett covers "Peepin' Tomboy," while Vile revamps "Outta the Woodwork" (with Barnett herself jumping in on backing vocals). See the album's full tracklisting down below.

The first peek at the forthcoming record arrives with a video for "Over Everything." The clip was shot by Danny Cohen, capturing Barnett on her Aussie home turf, and Vile on his in America, swapping lip sync duties on each other's lines. Check it out at the bottom of the page.
