Nearly two years removed from releasing debut album Playing House, Common Holly has shared details of a follow-up.

Titled When I say to you Black Lightning, the sophomore effort from Brigitte Naggar's project arrives October 11 through Barsuk Records/Royal Mountain Records/Dalliance/Remote Control Records/Solitaire Recordings.

Said to be more experimental in nature than Naggar's aforementioned debut, When I say to you Black Lightning's nine tracks observe "the complexities of mental health, the precarity of life, and the challenges of finding strength in the face of grave misunderstanding."

In a press release, Naggar explained the bulk of the album was written over two years and captures "a period of growth."

"While it's obviously personal and based off of my own experience, I want this album to feel familiar," she said in a statement. "Life gets complicated as we grow, people form relationships to each other, they lose things, they discover pain, fear, self-delusion; sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's weird, often it sucks — and we have to navigate our way through all of that."

Album opener "Central Booking" can be heard alongside a video below, which centres on a flailing inflatable tube man. When I say to you Black Lightning is now available for pre-order.
