'Christian Punk Band' (album stream)

He may be best known as a former member of Toronto's Teenage Kicks, but Christian Turner is investing his name and guitar skills in a new project — the aptly labelled Christian Punk Band. The trio are set to unleash their self-titled, self-released debut EP on November 20, but you can give it a listen right now on Exclaim.ca.

The band sees Turner teaming up with Jeff Takahashi and Jon Lubanski, and as their bio puts it: "Contrary to what you may have assumed, Christian Punk Band doesn't exist with satirical intent." It seems, instead, that they exist to deliver catchy, fuzzed-out, punk-tinged jams.

There are four brand new cuts to hear on the group's debut EP and none of them clock in at over three minutes, making for a short but sweet showcase of wailing guitars, pounding drums, and Turner's lead vocals backed by simple, succinct harmonies.

You can catch the group live at their upcoming show at Toronto's Tattoo on December 19. For now, though, listen to Christian Punk Band's self-titled EP in the player below.
