Pacific Northwest indie rockers Chastity Belt have announced their fifth studio album, led by new single "Hollow."
The mostly jokey, but semi-seriously-titled Live Laugh Love arrives on March 29 as their Suicide Squeeze Records label debut. It follows 2019's self-titled album and 2017's I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone before it. The new record will mark the first time all four members of the quintet have sung on a Chastity Belt album.
After playing music together for over a decade now, the band's Lydia Lund explained, "We have such a strong sense of each other's musical inclinations. I think this allows for a lot of playfulness…we can kinda surprise each other, like a good punchline would."
Of the shoegazey lead single — "a classic Chazzy-style tune about feeling lost and stuck, waiting for something to change without necessarily taking action" — Julia Shapiro added, "The older I get, the more I realize that I might just always feel this way, and it's more about sitting with the feeling and accepting it, rather than trying to fight it."
The band will also embark on a North American tour behind the album next spring, with Canadian stops at Vancouver's Fox Theatre (April 17) and Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern (May 10).
