DJ D-Sol is saying "so long" to spinning records and finally following his dream of being a full-time investment bank CEO. David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs and DJ of eight years, has announced that he's retiring from DJing due to unwanted media attention.

If you didn't catch D-Sol's set at Lollapalooza last year, we fear it may be too late. A selection of Solomon's colleagues on the Goldman Sachs board seem to think that his high-profile music career is inviting a little too much scrutiny — and that performing at massive events like a peak-pandemic Chainsmokers concert in 2020 that ended up getting investigated by the New York Health Department might be distracting him from the dolla-dolla bills.

As per the Financial Times, sources say that Solomon "has decided to stop DJing at high-profile events following criticism that his hobby created a distraction from his work leading the Wall Street firm." Some investors were also reportedly "uneasy about [Solomon's] decision in 2019 to perform at Tomorrowland, a Belgian music festival known for heavy drug taking."

The news comes alongside the firm unveiling a sizeable plunge in profits, having recorded falling earnings for the past eight quarters. Plus, last week, chief Goldman Sachs competitor JP Morgan recorded a 35 percent jump in third quarter profits.

In a statement to FT, Tony Fratto — a spokesperson for the firm — said, "This is not news. David hasn't publicly DJ'ed an event in well over a year, which we have confirmed multiple times in the past… Music was not a distraction from David's work. The media attention became a distraction."

Solomon has been CEO of Goldman Sachs since 2018, but started DJing in 2015. Sometimes, the side hustle just takes off and you have to jump ship.
